Background

This restaurant has the following dimention 1200M2 (40m x 30m) , ceiling height 7 metres, long window glass at rear of the restaurant covering front side of the restaurant. In the front there are 2 doors and 1 door at the left side.

Back of the restaurant area there are 2 doors, 1 door for emergency door and the other to the kitchen area. There is no window at back of building. The FIRST AID KIT is located at the kitchen area including fire extinguisher and smoke alarms.

Right next to the emergency door isolated from the others area is toilet, there only 1 toilet on it for male and female. Beside the toilet room is a Manager room and meeting room that the front staff (Waiter/tress,Cashier,Greeter) can be use it for daily meeting before they start they work. This Manager room and meeting room has workstation including whiteboard and sofa. Toilet and the meeting room has one entry door only.

Opposite to the meeting room is a kitchen. All the kitchen equipments are inside this area including a big wardrobe and chiller to load on the food preparations things. There also 1 computer unit which connected to the front desk where the chief can use it to see the food order from the front area.

Beside the kitchen area is receptionist plus cashier area. This area is also can be use for the waiter/tress to make food order to the kitchen by using the 2 notebooks on the reception desk. 1 register machine, 1 printer, 2 chairs and 1 sofa are available in this section.

Tables and chairs including sofas are placed in the middle and the edge of the restaurant room area. The restaurant area consist of two areas, smoking and non smoking area.

Non Smoking area located at the main entry door where there are 16 round tables and 4 chairs for each table. There also 1 long sofa next to the wall of the right side of the building.

Smoking area is located at the back of the restaurant. It consist of 12 round tables and 4 chairs for each table. 3 long sofas are also available behind the round tables at the smoking area. In the middle of the restaurant area are 5 large round tables with 12 chairs for each table, it can be use for a big family or a big member of group. Opposite to the large round table next to the left side door of the restaurant building are 4 oval large size tables with 6 chairs for each table, this also using for a big family.

The electricity power is located outside of the restaurant building area at the left side, parking area and bus stopped are also available at rear of the restaurant next to the restaurant sign.

Recommendation

Install the RTA computer in the office facing the door. Install another light above the computer. This would comply with the requirements of the WORKCOVER guidelines for environmental factors. For ergonomic requirements an additional ergonomic chair is purchased. The computer system is installed based on the WORKCOVER guide lines for the following:

  1. The angle of the screen to the eye is max 30 degrees to horizontal. This is to protect the neck.
  2. The key board is positioned to reduce stress on the risk.
  3. The back rest is adjusted to ensure the back is vertical when seated.

The basic setup is given in Figure 2. Basically this includes the setup oft he following: Chair, Desk screen, Documents Layout, Keyboard, Mouse, Environment, Telephone Operations and Headsets and Work Organisation.
